As a new course offering from the College of Education (CoE) and the Office of Diversity Education and Compliance (ODEC), this course seeks to develop skills for communicating across difference in an international context and to understand contemporary developmental issues in the realm of cultural diversities. During this semester, students from the University of Maryland will engage in class readings, assignments, and informed dialogue with students from the Jaypee University of Information Technology in India. The course will be taught/facilitated by Mark Brimhall-Vargas, PhD from the University of Maryland and Nirupama Prakash, PhD from Jaypee University. The structure of the course will begin with the development of a foundation of knowledge prior to the online engagement with our peers in the other country. Students will be expected to actively participate and prepare for that participation by doing all the assigned work.
