Home --> Student--> Diversity Leadership Internship Program

  • Are you interested in working in a diverse environment and gaining skills in conflict resolution, peer mediation, sexual harassment prevention program, and intergroup dialogue?
  • Do you have skills in web development and database management and would like to apply your skills to solving issues related to diversity on our campus?
  • Would you like to be involved in developing outreach, marketing materials, and developing some Real Life Marketing materials for student programs related to diversity?
  • Would you like to develop some skills in diversity management?

If you are interested in any of the above, then please contact us! We would love to have you come on board OHRP, and to devise an internship that will work for both of us!

The Diversity Leadership Internship Program (DLIP) is a FOR CREDIT (one to six ), non paying, independent study experience. (One credit equals 15 contact hours, and we can work with you on how to do the hours). OHRP offers two versions of the program, one for Undergraduate students, and one for Graduate students. We will work with you to develop an internship that is flexible, dynamic, challenging, and a positive UMD experience!

Because OHRP is a non-academic unit, students who participate in the DLIP need to identify a "Professor of Record" in their major department. The Professor will work with the student and the OHRP supervisor to enable the student to register for the appropriate type and number of credits for the DLIP; to facilitate the student in completing and submitting paperwork required for the independent study; and, to submit the student's final grade.

For more information or to enroll in this Internship, please contact the Associate Director, Gloria Bouis or the Executive Director, Dr. Christine Clark, or any of our Staff Members whose work might interest you.
